Knives and wrenches are tools that come to hand while working on projects in my two favorite rooms, the kitchen and the garage. I am happiest when working with my hands, and most content when I have a project to contemplate and plan. Anticipating a day of smoking meat in the BBQ pit, ordering parts in advance of an ambitious (for me, anyway) household or automotive repair, or even mulling over a long-avoided chore (I have to get those raspberries tied...)--these are the kinds of thoughts that propel me out of bed on days when regular work and teaching don't otherwise necessitate an early rise.
My interests are many--I am a wannabe polymath; and I claim no true expertise in any discipline (save cooking). In Adventures with Knives and Wrenches, I will try to document with words and pictures my efforts to grow my abilities and integrate my interests.
